Rio Blanco Landscape Corridor

One of the eastern San Juan's largest elk migration corridors denotes the Rio Blanco corridor. Gentle, expansive forests of aspen, mixed conifer and Douglas-fir offer habitat for marten and goshawks. The gentle topography makes this corridor a major target for new roads and aspen clearcuts.

Aspen clearcuts around Buckles Lake threaten to sever the Rio Blanco roadless corridor from the South San Juan Wilderness.
